Lilly Dupes

Lilly Pulitzer has been around for years but it seems the most popular now. Now that it has become popular, other brands are creating similar prints. I have found two current lookalikes this summer in the past month.

The first is a pair of shorts I came across in Belk department store by their "Crown & Ivy" brand. I love this brand and the preppy style it portrays. They design prints with all types of animals such as  giraffes, elephants, bees, etc. These shorts were originally $40.00 and I scored them for just $20.00. They look a lot like Lilly's "Tusk in Sun" print and they are made with a PJ bottom feel.

The second pair of shorts I found were discovered at Old Navy. I've seen another lilly inspired print at Old Navy before but they didn't have my size. I was ecstatic to find these shorts on sale for just $8 at their 4th of July sale. They were originally priced at $24.94 and look like Lilly's "Sparks Fly" print.

OOTD: Reef Me Up

I have been on the search for "vintage" Lilly lately and by vintage I mostly mean a few years old. My preferred method of this madness is searching #relilly on instagram. I love eBay but I hate having to fuss with bidding and waiting for it to sell blah blah blah. I want it now and for a good price! haha My first Lilly purchase on instagram was a Somerset dress in Bocce. However, I got a large and it was too big so I sold it to get my money back. My next purchase was in an interesting print that I had never seen before.

The print is a Resort 2012 Lilly Pulitzer print called Reef Me Up. I scored the skirt for just $45. I have also never seen a skirt style by Lilly like this before. The skirt is a thin cotton material with an elastic waste. I paired it with a Buckhead Betty Navy silk top similar style of an Elsa. For jewelry I added an orange bubble necklace and matching earrings. I was wearing this outfit to work so I wore my summer "work" shoes which are gold sandals by "Me Too." I scored them for just $29 at Famous Footwear and they are so comfortable!

It was pure coincidence that my nails were orange but the color is LA Colors gel nail polish in Stunner.

The look together on, ignore my horrible mirror selfie quality haha

I hope you enjoyed my outfit as much as I did, Savannah

Apartment Series #2: Patio

When looking at apartments I made sure to check out the patio. I had good intentions on using my patio all the time to get air, grow plants, and enjoy during sunsets. Boy was I wrong, I do go out every day but just long enough to water the plants. I blame the fact that I'm on the first floor and the privacy just keeps me inside but in reality I just love inside too much after a day of work. Anyway, it at least looks cute to give a little incentive to go out.

I'm not one to shy away from color so I bought these cute bright green chairs at Lowes. The cute pillows came from Dollar General for $3 each. Yes you read that right, just $3 on sale!

I got my table from my great grandmas house and it was found under the carport rusting away in a white color. I freshened it up with a coat of black spray paint and it looks good as new!

Before-White and rusty

After-black and good as new!

My adorable flamingo in my pink plant came from Cracker Barrel and the mason jar light came from Big Lots. The light is battery operated and flickers like a real candle. This is the view it gives off at night. As always I hope you enjoyed my little space!

Lilly Pulitzer Inspired "You Gotta Regatta" Painted Sail Boat

I don't always do Lilly crafts but I've done a lot recently and wanted to post this super cute sail boat I found at Michaels for $1! I painted it in just a few easy steps.

 1. First I simply painted the background turquoise and the boat bottom brown.

2. Then I painted the top of the bottom (if that makes sense) white.

3. I drew sailboats similiar to the ones on the print "You gotta regatta" with a pencil.

4. I painted over the sailboats with white and I could see the drawings underneath but if I had to do it again I would paint the white first then draw. Afterwards I painted the sailboats and outlined them in a black paint pen.

5. Simply paint squiggly (is that a word?) lines to show the water. I used the same turquoise on the background and light blue for variation.

PS- I painted my initials on the flag with the black paint pen to add something extra.

Lilly Pulitzer Inspired Bedroom

I recently moved into my own one bedroom apartment and I was thrilled to decorate! I am a huge DIY lover so I was able to score most of my decor for much cheaper! I plan to show my entire apartment and break down each DIY project but for now I plan to start by showing off my favorite room so far, my bedroom.

You read the title right, this bedroom is Lilly Pulitzer inspired. Now you might think "this isn't THAT Lilly Pulitzer inspired" but I have been waiting on a Lilly duvet cover for this room for a MONTH! (thanks Garnet Hill and UPS) For right now I only have my Lilly for Target chair to add some Lilly cheer. While I wait for my bedding in "Trippin and Sippin" I am using a white quilt like bed spread with green pillows I had from my last apartment bed set.

Another Lilly addition to my room are these beautiful Lilly 5x5 prints from the 5x5 book you purchase in any Lilly Pulitzer signature store. The book is a coffee table book full of Lilly prints and I simply cut out a few to hang. Now the book, with a few less pages, sits in my living room.

One of my favorite finds in all of my apartment is this gorgeous green glass lamp with bamboo like accents. I scored it at an antique store in South Carolina for just $30. The lamp shade and gold whale were found at Target at the beginning of the summer.

A close up of my Lilly for Target beach chair in "Nosey Posey" and my night stand.

My bedroom set was inherited from great grandmother and couldn't be anymore perfect. The top of my dresser was originally completely clear except for the lamp. However, I found a necklace and bracelet display each at a boutique that was closing and HAD to have them. It looks cluttered at first glance but I love displaying my jewelry and cuts my get ready time in half.

My gold lamp was found at Home Goods for only $30 because it had a defect, which I've yet to find.

I love everything on my shop and this is one of my first favorites. It is no longer being sold but will be back up soon!

I keep my earrings in a simple gold basket that I spray painted.

And last on my list is this great chair that I painted navy and recovered, it sits beside a giant mirror. I also made a pillow with what I had left of my green oriental printed fabric. I hope you enjoy my bedroom as much as I do!
